Tokyo Design Week

Tokyo Design week is the largest and most influential design event held in Japan in late October/November each year.

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to be represented at this year's Design Week, with Petar Belic attending as an informal guest.

Although Tokyo Design Week showcases Japanese design, there were over 200 exhibitors from over 20 countries. There is a definite focus on the avante-garde and noveau, and an ongoing dialogue about the role of design in the twenty-first century.

Our own focus was on Japanese youth culture, from the crazy fashion and style of Harajuku to the flashy neon glitz of Ginza. Japanese design seems to move at a different pace to the rest of the world, with trends being engaged with and discarded very quickly. But it's always a lot of fun.
